Projects Lined Up

Since I am anxiously counting down the days until I have finally moved I thought I would make a list of all the projects I have waiting for me!

Wedding Kippah, Part 1
As many of you know I am getting married in 93 days, but who’s counting right? My fiance is Jewish, I am not. We are very much looking forward to our intercultural marriage. As part of that we are incorporating different traditions into our wedding that are meaningful to us. One of those is the kippah, also known yarmulke or yamaka.
Yarmulke: Also referred to as a yamaka, kippah or kipa, is a small, round cap that Jewish men wear atop their heads. It’s typically black, concave, and can range from 4 inches to 9.5 inches in circumference. Some are fastened to the hair with pins, others just sit atop the crown of the head.
We are having a Justice of the Peace perform the ceremony, but I still feel that it is important that my fiance wear a kippah. Kippot are almost impossible to buy singularly, so I have decided to make his. I thought it would be very special that way.
That being said my hunt began to find a pattern or instructions as to how to make one. Luckily, with the power of the internet, that search was not nearly as arduous as I had thought. I found a great pattern and instructions here: http://www.yakityak.com/YakKippahPattern.pdf
Because I am in the middle of an out of state move my beloved sewing machine is not by my side, so I will have to wait to begin this particular project. If all goes to plan, I will have a great pattern to keep for the years to come.
